Analysing the opening of two films.

In the first film we watched it was difficult to figure out which genre the film was, but I think it was a psychological horror, I think this because the background music made a very eerie atmosphere and created a lot of tension and in the opening five minutes a man dies in a hospital. The man who dies has no family or friends there with him and when the nurse takes the man's belongings to the bin there are a lot more boxes in there already, suggesting that more people had died that day, the amount of death that is shown just in the first few minutes suggests that it is a horror type film.


In the second opening we watched I think it is i horror/thriller. It was a lot easier to decide which genre the film was because there is a lot of blood so early on and the intense background music also emphasises the thriller aspect of the film.
