Deciding what genre the film should be

When we were discussing which genre to choose for our film we drew out a brainstorm of different genres that we thought were a possibility and then spoke as a group about each genre, what resources we would need for each genre, how we would do a film of that genre and if we could actuall make the film and through the process of eilimination we ended up with the genre crime/thriller. Then we thought the thriller aspect would be difficult to do so we crossed that out so it was just a crime film, then we built on this idea and came up with the first idea for a film.

The target audience and resources for our film

Target audience:

16-25 Year old males.

Reason for this:
The film is rated a 15 and will contain moderate violence and bad language and men normally prefer the violence more than women do

Resources for the film:

One of the resources we will need for our film is a location for the robbery to take place, we thought that the most likely place we could do this would be Stella's house, it is in a secluded road so we should be able to film without any interruptions from passers by.
The three burglars will need to be in all black clothing to make it seem more realistic and the woman will be smart work wear and a handbag.
The props we will need fake blood for when one burglar gets stabbed, a blank disc to write on, a weapon for the woman, a gym bag of equipment for the burglary. A phone. A land rover for the burglars get away driven by my dad so its legal and safe.
We will need a camera and all four of us are going to be acting in the film.
We need low level lighting so we are going to do the filming when its dark.
